Mary Flynn Murphy Dance Studio has been a cornerstone of Somerville, Massachusetts for over six decades. What began as one woman's passion for dance has grown into a beloved institution — a place where thousands of children, teens, and adults have discovered the joy of movement, built lifelong friendships, and found their second home.
Today, the studio is proudly owned and directed by Mary's Granddaughter, Danielle McCabe, making MFM one of the rare dance studios in New England to span three generations of the same family. That continuity of love, dedication, and commitment to quality is woven into everything we do.
At MFM, we believe that dance is for everyone. From the moment a toddler takes their first wobbly steps in Wiggle Worms to the day a competitive dancer earns a national award, every student at this studio receives the individual attention they deserve. We offer classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Lyrical, and Modern for dancers ages 18 months through adults — at both recreational and competitive levels. Whether your child is stepping into a dance studio for the very first time or has been training for years, they will find a program here that meets them exactly where they are and challenges them to grow.
Our teaching staff is the heart of this studio. Every instructor at MFM brings years of professional training, competition experience, and a genuine love of working with young people. Many of our teachers grew up dancing right here at MFM or have been part of our dance family for many years — they know what it means to be part of this community because they live it themselves. That connection to the studio's history and values shows in every class they teach.
